The NC Chiropractic Association presents the Inaugural

Summer Wellness Symposium

August 14, 2010

Sheraton Hotel

Atlantic Beach, NC

Fun in the Sun with some Education and Wellness Fellowship

Great Educational Opportunities Include:

Strengthening Posture: A Key to Moving and Aging Well
with Steven Weiniger, DC

Dr. Steven Weiniger, author of Stand Taller~Live Longer, teaches you to create posture awareness and retrain habitual patterns of motion with the StrongPosture™ exercise progressions. These focused motion, core stabilization exercise protocols use low-tech tools (balls, bands, foam rollers, etc) for easy integration into a chiropractic, massage or other manual therapy practice for improved results and retention. In addition, "Bio-mechanics 101" concepts blend common-sense with current research to increase patient engagement from AcuteCare to Rehab and Wellness care and build the perceived value of daily posture exercise as an intelligent, anti-aging strategy.

Ayurveda: Theory and Practice

with Thomas Mitchell, DC
Ayurveda is the ancient healing science of India, considered by many to be the oldest healing system in the world.  In this seminar, Dr. Tom Mitchell will give a comprehensive introduction to the major concepts of Ayurveda, with lifestyle and dietary recommendations for creating greater health and vitality, and discuss in detail the indications and practical uses of many major Ayurvedic herbs and herbal preparations.  Practitioners will be able to implement this information immediately into their daily practice.

Working Dorsal to Ventral to Unlock Chronic Myofascial Patterns

with Kevin Powell, MA, LMBT

Manual therapists frequently spend most of their efforts working on the dorsal surfaces of the body: the back, neck, and posterior lower extremities. In many cases, the soft-tissue patterns that influence spinal alignment are shaped by transverse bands of myofascial holding around the spinal axis and torso. More profound and lasting resolution of patient complaints can result from working with the anterior aspect of the body to release the chronic holding patterns. In this workshop, participants will learn the power of assessing and treating from a 360-degree perspective.

Acupuncture: Form Follows Function, Using Energetics to Influence

with Bonnie Walker, DC, L Ac

“You cannot make a change in the structure of the body unless you first make a change in the energy” is a statement from the Ling Shu, the classical texts of energetic medicine. We will discuss the treatment of common musculoskeletal conditions seen in everyday practice and the resolution of these conditions by applying these age-old principles to restore the function of the structures involved. Facilitating homeostasis and working in harmony with nature produces true healing.
